Philadelphia, PA, August 30 – Adam J. Green, a student at the California University of Pennsylvania (CUP), has been appointed to the Open Men’s Soccer Team representing the USA at the 2nd Maccabi Australia International Games (MAIGs) in Sydney, December 26, 2010 – January 2, 2011. The Games will take place at Olympic Park where many of the competitions took place during the 2000 International Summer Olympics.
Green, currently a senior at CUP, plays Center and Right Defender for the Men’s Soccer Team [Vulcan’s] and has been a starter for the last three years. A soccer player since he was five years old, he played Soccer for Hatboro-Horsham High School as a Center Midfielder and was Team captain in his senior year. He also lettered in Football and Track & Field. Additionally, Green has played Club Soccer for 13 years with the Hatboro-Horsham Soccer Club, the Ukrainian Nationals Soccer Club and the Montgomery Premier Soccer Club as a Center Midfielder.
A self-described ‘sports-o-holic,’ he loves watching and playing all sports. Green has been an athlete for as long as he can remember and wouldn’t have it any other way. He is a Sport Management major at CUP and plans to continue focusing on sports after graduating from school and for the rest of his life. Green said his greatest athletic achievement to date was winning the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in 2008, as a starter on the California University of Pennsylvania Men’s Soccer Team and qualifying for the NCAA tournament.
When asked why he wanted to represent the USA at the MAIGs, he responded, “It is an honor to represent the USA at the upcoming Maccabi Games. It has always been a personal dream of mine to play for the National Team and while this is not the World Cup, I will get to live my dream as a member of the Maccabi USA Open Men’s Soccer Team. I have high expectations for the Maccabi Games and look forward to the opportunity to compete with some of the best Jewish Soccer players in the world.”
