MACCABI USA ANNOUNCES THE MEDICAL TEAM FOR THE 14TH PAN AMERICAN MACCABI GAMES

Philadelphia, PA, May 29, 2019 – Maccabi USA Lead Team Physician Merrick Wetzler and Lead Athletic Trainer Summer Runestad are pleased to announce the Medical Team for the 14th Pan American Maccabi Games, which will take place July 5-15, 2019 in Mexico City, Mexico. Maccabi USA will bring a team of 400+ athletes who will join the other 2,500 Jewish athletes from 19 countries, participating in 24 different sports

The doctors are Michael April of Rockville, MD; Marc Backal of Voorhees, NJ; Emily Levy of Philadelphia, PA; Scott Singer of Orange Village, OH; and Merrick Wetzler of Cherry Hill, NJ.

The certified athletic trainers are David Caplin of Mount Laurel, NJ; Jamie Goldberg of Philadelphia, PA; Beth Hagler of Silver Spring, MD; Chloe Kipnis of Los Angeles, CA; Sharona Mallach of Worcester, MA; Erich Steinmetz of Salem, OR; Cecilia Sullivan of Baltimore, MD; Summer Runestad of Los Angeles, CA; and Katelyn Zimmerman of West Long Branch, NJ.

The Licensed Massage Therapist is Martin Freeman of Silver Spring, MD.

The Games are hosted by the Confederacion Latinoamericana Maccabi (CLAM). They are conducted in cooperation with Maccabi World Union and are held every four years, two years after the Maccabiah is held. The Pan American Maccabi Games are a high-level athletic competition for Jewish athletes all over the world aimed at connecting Jews from the Diaspora
