MACCABI USA ANNOUNCES THE OPEN SQUASH TEAM FOR THE 15th EUROPEAN MACCABI GAMES
Philadelphia, PA, May 22, 2019 – The 15th European Maccabi Games Organizing Committee is pleased to announce the Open Men’s Squash Team for the 15th European Maccabi Games which will take place July 28-August 7, 2019 in Budapest, Hungary. Maccabi USA will bring a team of 200+ athletes who will join the other 2,000 Jewish athletes from 29 countries, participating in 22 different sports.
The athletes are Jason Feinberg of Santa Barbara, CA, University of California-Berkeley and Sam Matlick of New York, NY, Hamilton College (’17). Jason plays as the #9 on the University of California-Berkeley’s squash team, he is also a co-captain of the team. He played squash in a formal high school league, his team was undefeated for 3 years, he also has competed in multiple USSRA Juniors Tournaments. Sam competed in over 50 nationally sanctioned tournaments from 2008-2013 and was a member of the Hamilton College Men’s Squash Team. This summer will be the first time both Jason and Sam will compete as members of Maccabi USA.
The European Games are a high-level athletic competition for Jewish athletes all over the world aimed at connecting Jews from the Diaspora. They are hosted by the European Maccabi Confederation and conducted in cooperation with Maccabi World Union. They are held every four years, two years after the Maccabiah is held.
