MACCABI USA WRESTLING SPRING NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Philadelphia, PA, March 15, 2019 – Maccabi USA is initiating wrestlers of Jewish Heritage to compete in the 2019 Spring National Championships. The event will take place April 14, 2019 at the Levien Gym at Columbia University in New York. The three eligible divisions to compete in are sanctioned by USA Wrestling. They are USAW Open Men, Junior Boys, and Junior Girls. USAW Cadet wrestlers are also eligible for both Junior Boys and Girls. The event will start at 8:00 AM with weigh-ins and the tournament will begin at 10:00 AM. The Junior tournament is a qualifier for the Summer of 2019 Israel Training Trip.
This event is organized by Maccabi USA Wrestling Chair Chris Feder of San Rafael, CA. Feder is the current Head Coach for the wrestling team at Marin Catholic High School, the Brawlers Wrestling Club in Marin County, CA, and the Executive Director of Beat the Streets San Francisco. Feder competed in the 1969 and 1989 Maccabiah Games in Israel. Through events like this, Feder hopes to engage and encourage the next generation of Jewish wrestlers and bring about developmental growth in preparation for the 2021 Maccabiah Games.
