Philadelphia, PA, December 2 – The USA Men’s Water Polo Team competing at the 12th Pan Am Maccabi Games in São Paulo, Brazil has a very solid Water Polo Team for the Games which includes seven players who have played for top-rated Division I programs. The Team will be anchored by four collegiate powerhouse athletes. Devon Borisof, a starter for University of Southern California, was the Defensive MVP at the 2004 Pan Am Games and was named as a first team academic All-American; Academic All-American Joseph Gullikson of the University of the Pacific was three times named the Mountain Pacific Conference Player of the Week; NCAA All American Cory Nasoff of the University of California, Berkeley was on a team that finished second at the NCAA championship in 2010, and was on the Bronze Medal U.S. Squad at the 2011 University Games in Shenzen, China; NCAA Player of the Week; andMichael Rosenthal, a starter for the University of Southern California. All will represent the USA at the Pan Am Maccabi Games. The Games take place December 26, 2011 through January 2, 2012.
The complete roster includes: Michael Abell-Venit of Encino, CA; Jesse Barush of Napa, CA; Chase Borisoff, Coach Derek Borisoff, Devon Barisoff and Spencer Barisoff of La Canada, CA; Andrew Cutrow of Los Angeles, CA; Adam Greenberg of Charleston, IL; Joseph Gullikson of Sonoma, CA; Cory Nasoff of Rancho Santa Fe, CA; Graham Nesbit of La Canada, CA; Michael Rosenthal of Orinda, CA; Matthew Schwartz of Pasadena, CA and Gregory Trenk of Granada Hills, CA. The Team includes the Borisoff Family, with father Derek coaching and sons Chase, Devon and Spencer competing.
With the leadership of the more experienced players and the background of the rest of the Maccabi Team members, Maccabi USA expects them to field a very competitive Team and defend the USA’s Pan Am Maccabi Championship.
