RACHAEL SUSHNER APPOINTED HEAD WOMEN’S SOCCER COACH FOR THE 14TH PAN AMERICAN MACCABI GAMES
Philadelphia, PA, October 18, 2018 – Bryan Fiedler and Jeanie Milbauer, Open Women’s Soccer Co-Chairs for 2019 Pan American Maccabi Games, are pleased to announce the appointment of Rachael Sushner as Head Coach of the Open Women’s Soccer Team for the 14th Pan American Maccabi Games. The Games will take place July 5-15, 2019 in Mexico City, Mexico. Sushner currently serves as Head Women’s Soccer Coach at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN.
“I am so honored to have been selected Head Coach for the Open Women’s Soccer Team next summer in Mexico City!” said Sushner. “My experience as an athlete on the gold medal Open Women’s Soccer Team at the 17th Maccabiah Games in Israel in 2005 was unforgettable. It is a privilege to coach this team and be part of something so unique and special.”
Sushner is a former two-time all-region player, Liberty League Rookie of the Year, and academic all-scholar athlete during her undergraduate career at Skidmore College. She played professionally with the Boston Breakers Reserve Team in 2010 and won a WPSL National Championship. Prior to her tenure at St. Olaf’s College, Sushner served as the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at Wellesley College (’09-’11), Clarkson University (’11-’13), and Washington and Lee University (’13-’16).
The Pan American Maccabi Games are a high-level athletic competition for Jewish athletes all over the world aimed at connecting Jews from the Diaspora. They are hosted by the Confederacion Latinoamericana Maccabi (CLAM) and conducted in cooperation with Maccabi World Union. They are held every four years, two years after the Maccabiah is held.
Maccabi USA is seeking qualified Jewish women’s soccer players to represent Team USA in Soccer at the 14th Pan American Maccabi Games in the Open Division (ages 18-35). Eligible applicants should visit maccabiusa.com to apply.
