Girls’ Soccer Team shut out Great Britain 12-0 in its London debut Thursday.
Ivy Ruberg (#23) led her team with three goals. She believes the girls connected, communicated, and moved the ball really well, even after having just that one practice.
“Everyone went a hundred percent [during] their time on the field,” said Ruberg after the game.
Olivia Heinemann (#19) is back for her second Maccabi experience and agrees that the players have gotten to know each other and are blending together nicely. Heinemann scored two goals in the opener, but for the veteran, this summer’s event is about more than just soccer.
“I get to represent Judaism through playing my favorite sport and representing the U.S., and I get to meet people from all over the world who share the same beliefs as me,” she said.
The U18 Girls’ Soccer team will be back on the field Friday to take on Argentina as the European Maccabi Youth Games continue. Visit maccabiusa.com for all London coverage!
