MACCABI USA ANNOUNCES THE OPEN JUDO TEAM FOR THE 20TH WORLD MACCABIAH GAMES

Philadelphia, PA, April 27, 2017 – The Maccabi USA Judo Co-Chairs, Lawrence Levin and Lou Moyerman, along with Head Coach Sandy North are pleased to announce the Open Judo Team for the 20th World Maccabiah Games, which will take place July 4-18, 2017 in Israel. Maccabi USA will bring a team of 1,100+ athletes who will be part of the 10,000 Jewish athletes from 80 countries, participating in 43 different sports.

The athletes are PeelGadol Ben Yisrael of Santa Cruz, CA, Georgiana Bruce Kirby Preparatory School; Ari Berliner of Cumming, GA, Georgia Virtual School; Yoni Dulitzki of Wynnewood, PA, McGill University; Melissa Feinberg of Gwynedd, PA, Temple University (’09); Alex Jacobson of Hatchobori, Japan, Temple University Japan (’09); Nate Keeve of San Rafael, CA, Oregon State University; Adam Moyerman of Philadelphia, PA, Boston University (’08); Joshua Paltielov of Rego Park, NY, Forest Hills High School; Eric Skylar of Feasterville, PA, Schenectady Community College; and Yevgeniy Sosnovskiy of San Francisco, CA, San Francisco State University. Team Manager is Scott Gelb of Anaheim, CA.

“We are very excited to be bringing such a strong Open Judo Team. There is a good mix of new athletes and veteran athletes who are familiar with the Maccabiah Games. Maccabi USA has a long history of bringing home both individual and team medals in the Judo competition and the 20th World Maccabiah Games will be no exception” said Lou Moyerman, Maccabi USA Judo Co-Chair.

Since 1932, over 62,000 athletes have participated in the Maccabiah Games, in a celebration of Jewish Strength and Solidarity. Team USA’s success is not only measured by the medals won, but by the impact that the Maccabiah experience had on their lives as well as the friendships they formed.
