MACCABI USA ANNOUNCES THE JUNIORS BOYS’ WATER POLO TEAM FOR THE 20TH WORLD MACCABIAH GAMES
Philadelphia, PA, May 2, 2017 – The Maccabi USA Water Polo Co-Chairs Derek Borisoff and Leland Faust, along with Head Coach Mike Schiesel are pleased to announce the Juniors Boys’ Water Polo Team for the 20th World Maccabiah Games, which will take place July 4-18, 2017 in Israel. Maccabi USA will bring a team of 1,100+ athletes who will be part of the 10,000 Jewish athletes from 80 countries, participating in 43 different sports.
“We have an enthusiastic group of younger water polo players who are eager both to see Israel and participate in a great athletic environment. Since 1961 we had very competitive open men’s water polo teams as part of the Maccabiah. We can now extend this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to our juniors” said Faust.
The athletes are Henry Asa of Chappaqua, NY, Horace Greeley High School; Matthew Cohen of La Jolla, CA, The Bishop’s School; Noah David of Agoura Hills, CA, Agoura High School; Yoel Feinberg of Los Altos, CA, Los Altos High School; Dylan Hirner of Mill Valley, CA, Tamalpais High School; Isaiah Klein-Cloud of Brooklyn, NY, The Churchill School and Center; Mason Marovic of Danville, CA, San Ramon Valley High School; Neta Shani of Los Altos, CA, Homestead High School; Amit Sharir of Sunnyvale, CA, Fremont High School; Matthew Sharp of Queens Park, Australia, Newington College; Maxwell Spiritos of Olney, MD, Landon School; Amir Voloshin of Sunnyvale, CA, Homestead High School; and Aviv Zohman of Tustin, CA, Arnold O. Beckman High School.
Since 1932, over 62,000 athletes have participated in the Maccabiah Games, in a celebration of Jewish Strength and Solidarity. Team USA’s success is not only measured by the medals won, but by the impact that the Maccabiah experience had on their lives as well as the friendships they formed.
