Philadelphia, PA, April 22, 2019 – Maccabi USA Fencing Chair Philippe Bennett along with Co-Head Coaches Victor Bianchini and Spencer Gordon-Sand are pleased to announce the Juniors, Open, and Masters Fencing Teams for the 15th European Maccabi Games which will take place July 28-August 7, 2019 in Budapest, Hungary. Maccabi USA will bring a team of 200+ athletes who will join the other 2,000 Jewish athletes from 29 countries, participating in 22 different sports.
The Co-Head Coaches for the Juniors Team are Victor Bianchini and Spencer Gordon-Sand. The Juniors athletes are Isaac Alkin of Pacific Palisades, CA; Draper Dayton of Petaluma, CA; Miranda Freedman of Grosse Pointe Park, MI; Ethan Frishman of New York, NY; Ari Glenn of Palo Alto, CA; Gabriel Goldberg of Chicago, IL; Ashley Graflund of Memphis, TN; Anat Katz of Chestnut Hill, MA; Rachel Kowalsky of Oyster Bay, NY; Danielle Levitis of Brooklyn, NY; Leo Lombardi of Berkeley, CA; Sarah Lurye of Chicago, IL; Michael Mogilevich of Brooklyn, NY; Mason Moskowitz of Poughkeepsie, NY; Claire Pave of Newtown, PA; David Prilutsky of Princeton, NY; Maia Slowinski of Orlando, FL; Maia Weintraub of Philadelphia, PA; Eli Weise of Seattle, WA; and Lawrence Zeltser of Syosset, NY.
The Open athlete is Adam Austin of Denver, CO. Adam was a member of the Brandeis University Men’s Fencing Team (2011).
The Masters athletes are Philippe Bennett of New York, NY; Adam Feldman of Wyomissing, PA; Isaac Greenbaum of Demarest, NJ; and Michael Lipton of San Rafael, CA.
The European Games are a high-level athletic competition for Jewish athletes all over the world aimed at connecting Jews from the Diaspora. They are hosted by the European Maccabi Confederation and conducted in cooperation with Maccabi World Union. They are held every four years, two years after the Maccabiah is held.
