Philadelphia, PA, August 30 – Jason Hirsch, an Assistant Coach of the University of Texas – Dallas Men’s Soccer Team has been appointed to the Open Men’s Soccer Team representing the USA at the 2nd Maccabi Australia International Games (MAIGs) in Sydney, December 26, 2010 – January 2, 2011. The Games will take place at Olympic Park where many of the competitions took place during the 2000 International Summer Olympics.
Hirsch, born in Johannesburg, South Africa and raised in Plano Texas, is in his fifth season as the Assistant Coach for the University of Texas at Dallas Men’s Soccer Team. An alumnus of University of Texas at Dallas, he was a Team Captain who earned numerous awards including:
- American Southwest Conference(ASC) – First Team All-Conference Midfielder – 2004
- ASC All-Tournament Team – 2004
- ASC Regular Season Champions – 2004
- ASC Conference Champions – 2004
- ASC All-Academic Conference – 2003 & 2004
Additionally, Hirsch played Midfielder and Forward for his Plano West High School Men’s Varsity Team and twelve years of club soccer in Dallas, TX with: Comets SC as a Forward, Lynx FC as a Midfielder and Forward and United as a Midfielder.
His greatest athletic achievement has been being the Captain for the University of Texas at Dallas undefeated Men’s Soccer Team in the American Southwest Conference and leading the Team to its first ever Conference Championship in his senior year.
When asked why he wanted to represent his country at the MAIGs, Hirsch responded, “It has always been a dream of mine to play in the Maccabi Games and even though I am a bit older, I can’t let this chance pass me by. I plan to enjoy my Team, the competition and represent the USA proudly.”
