MACCABI USA ANNOUNCES THE JUNIORS BOYS’ ICE HOCKEY TEAM FOR THE 20TH WORLD MACCABIAH GAMES

Philadelphia, PA, March 1, 2017 – The Maccabi USA Ice Hockey Co-Chairs, Steven Cohen, Devra Schorr Pulley and Philip Pulley, along with Head Coach Jon Sandos are pleased to announce the Juniors Boys’ Ice Hockey Team for the 20th World Maccabiah Games, which will take place July 4-18, 2017 in Israel. Maccabi USA will bring a team of 1,100+ athletes who will be part of the 10,000 Jewish athletes from 80 countries, participating in 43 different sports.

The athletes are Jacob Abene of Los Gatos, CA, Bellarmine College Prep; Ben Buium of Laguna Niguel, CA, Aliso Niguel High School; Elias Cohen of Brooklyn, NY, Poly Prep Country Day School; Hayden Fried of Jericho, NY, Shattuck St. Mary’s; Eric Gayzler of Brooklyn, NY, Midwood High School; Noah Gold of Brooklyn, NY, Kingsborough Early College School; Ethan Gorelkin of Syosset, NY, Choate Rosemary Hall; Isaiah Kahn of Chapel Hill, NC, Apex Learning Virtual School; Aaron Kellner of Delray Beach, FL, North Broward Preparatory School; Jake Lakatos of Brick, NJ, Brick Township High School; Ari Lerman of South Bend, IN, Culver Academy Prep; Jacob Lefton of St. Louis, MO, Mary Institute Country Day School; Simon Mandel of New York, NY, NYC iSchool; Jacob Mehl of Bronx, NY, Northfield Mount Herman; Jaxon Perlmutter of Bloomfield Hills, MI, Bloomfield Hills High School; Noah Petak of Tenafly, NJ, The Frisch School; Daniel Reuben of St. Charles, MO, St. Paul’s School; Zach Richterman of North Canton, OH, Culver Academy Prep; Alec Rovitz of Long Beach, NY, Long Beach Senior High School; Jacob Schapira of Farmingdale, NY, Compu High School; Aydin Schwetz of Thousand Oaks, CA, Century Academy; and Benjamin Tartakovsky of Manalapan, NJ, Manalapan High School.

Since 1932, over 62,000 athletes have participated in the Maccabiah Games, in a celebration of Jewish Strength and Solidarity. Team USA’s success is not only measured by the medals won, but by the impact that the Maccabiah experience had on their lives as well as the friendships they formed.
