MACCABI USA ANNOUNCES THE JUNIORS BOYS’ WATER POLO TEAM FOR THE 15TH EUROPEAN MACCABI GAMES

Philadelphia, PA, May 13, 2019 – Maccabi USA Juniors Boys’ Water Polo Head Coach Kirk Lazaruk is pleased to announce the 15th European Maccabi Games which will take place July 28-August 7, 2019 in Budapest, Hungary. Maccabi USA will bring a team of 200+ athletes who will join the other 2,000 Jewish athletes from 29 countries, participating in 22 different sports.

Head Coach Lazaruk has been coaching Water Polo for the last 7 years. He is currently the Assistant Coach of the Boys Water Polo Team and Head Coach of the Girls Water Polo Team at Pacific Palisades Charter High School in Pacific Palisades, CA. The athletes are Jonah Albers of San Rafael, CA; Jacob Berrol of Mill Valley, CA; Myles Cherry of Belvedere, CA; Matthew Cohen of La Jolla, CA; Daniel Goldberg of Santa Barbara, CA; Zachary Hausner of Pacific Palisades, CA; Mitchell Hyder of Pinecrest, FL; Logan Kalish of Bethesda, MD; Kyle Pearson of Key Biscayne, FL; Maximilian Pollack of Mill Valley, CA; Zachary Pollack of Mill Valley, CA; Maximo Speiser of Pacific Palisades, CA; and Max Stone of La Jolla, CA.

The European Games are a high-level athletic competition for Jewish athletes all over the world aimed at connecting Jews from the Diaspora. They are hosted by the European Maccabi Confederation and conducted in cooperation with Maccabi World Union. They are held every four years, two years after the Maccabiah is held.

Maccabi USA builds Jewish pride through sports, generating the emotional intensity, high ideals, and powerful camaraderie of competition.  We connect athletes, volunteers, and supporters with the global Jewish community.  Our athletic, educational, and cultural experiences build Jewish identity, perpetuate Jewish continuity worldwide, and strengthen support for the State of Israel.
