MACCABI USA ANNOUNCES THE JUNIORS TENNIS TEAM FOR THE 15th EUROPEAN MACCABI GAMES
Philadelphia, PA, May 13, 2019 – Maccabi USA Head Tennis Coach Lonnie Mitchel is pleased to announce the Juniors Tennis Team for the 15th European Maccabi Games which will take place July 28-August 7, 2019 in Budapest, Hungary. Maccabi USA will bring a team of 200+ athletes who will join the other 2,000 Jewish athletes from 29 countries, participating in 22 different sports.
Head Coach Mitchel is the Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach at the State University of New York – Oneonta. SUNY Oneonta holds the position as the best Division III SUNY Men’s Tennis Team in the state system; the Women’s Team is one of the top three teams in the conference having made the semifinals of the SUNYAC every season Mitchel has been at the helm. He is a four-time coaching alumnus of Maccabi USA. The athletes are Aviva Diamond of Orlando, FL; Eli Greenberg of New York, NY; Dahlia Rappaport of Englewood, CO; and Ryan Shayani of Old Westbury, NY.
The European Games are a high-level athletic competition for Jewish athletes all over the world aimed at connecting Jews from the Diaspora. They are hosted by the European Maccabi Confederation and conducted in cooperation with Maccabi World Union. They are held every four years, two years after the Maccabiah is held.
