MACCABI USA ANNOUNCES THE MASTERS AND GRAND MASTERS TENNIS TEAMS FOR THE 15th EUROPEAN MACCABI GAMES

Philadelphia, PA, June 4, 2019 – Maccabi USA Masters Women’s Tennis Chair Ondrea Schiciano along with Head Open, Masters, and Grand Masters Tennis Coach Todd Rubinstein are pleased to announce the Masters and Grand Masters Tennis Teams for the 15th European Maccabi Games, which will take place July 28-August 7, 2019 in Budapest, Hungary. Maccabi USA will bring a team of 200+ athletes who will join the other 2,000 Jewish athletes from 29 countries, participating in 20 different sports.

Head Coach Rubinstein is the founder of Sunshine State Tennis in Miami, Florida and was the 2018 USPTA National High School Coach of the Year and the 2018 Tennis Industry Magazine’s National High School Coach of the Year.  Todd is also a USPTA Elite Professional and Accredited Professional Coach, a USTA High Performance Coach, was named the 2018 USPTA District 16 Professional of the Year and was honored by Ronald McDonald House Charities as one of their 2019 “12 Good Men of Miami”.  The athletes competing are Marc Aaron of Randolph, VT; Arnold Friedman of Clovis, CA; Craig Jorasch of Palo Alto, CA; Gina Jorasch of Palo Alto, CA; Scott Kalb of New York, NY; Jeffrey Ravetz of New York, NY; Neil Schechter of Washington, DC; Ondrea Schiciano of Goldens Bridge, NY; and Edwin Schottenstein of New York, NY.

The European Maccabi Games are a high-level athletic competition for Jewish athletes all over the world aimed at connecting Jews from the Diaspora.  They are hosted by the European Maccabi Confederation and conducted in cooperation with Maccabi World Union. They are held every four years, two years after the Maccabiah is held.

Maccabi USA builds Jewish pride through sports, generating the emotional intensity, high ideals, and powerful camaraderie of competition.  We connect athletes, volunteers, and supporters with the global Jewish community.  Our athletic, educational, and cultural experiences build Jewish identity, perpetuate Jewish continuity worldwide, and strengthen support for the State of Israel.
