The Grand-Masters athletes are Terry Cole of Ventura, CA; Joseph Ende of Boca Raton, FL; Gary Freedson of Delray Beach, FL; and J. Samuel Tenenbaum of Chicago, IL.
“One of the most unique parts about the Golf competition is that it allows athletes over the age of 50 to experience the unforgettable journey of the Maccabiah” said Co-Chair Frankel. “During the two weeks in the Holy Land, the Golf Team forms an impeccable bond, despite the disparity in age ranging from 15-80. We are so grateful to have the talent and commitment of our Masters and Grand-Masters athletes. It is both a testament to the game of golf and to the Games that they can compete for themselves, their country, and the Jewish people. What an honor it is to have these extraordinary men and women as part of Team USA.”
Since 1932, over 62,000 athletes have participated in the Maccabiah Games, in a celebration of Jewish Strength and Solidarity. Team USA’s success is not only measured by the medals won, but by the impact that the Maccabiah experience had on their lives as well as the friendships they formed.
Maccabi USA builds Jewish pride through sports, generating the emotional intensity, high ideals, and powerful camaraderie of competition. We connect athletes, volunteers, and supporters with the global Jewish community. Our athletic, educational, and cultural experiences build Jewish identity, perpetuate Jewish continuity worldwide, and strengthen support for the State of Israel.
