MACCABI USA ANNOUNCES THE MEDICAL TEAM FOR THE 20TH WORLD MACCABIAH GAMES

Philadelphia, PA, June 15, 2017 – The Maccabi USA Medical Co-Chairs, Joel Carter and Merrick Wetzler are pleased to announce the Medical Team for the 20th World Maccabiah Games, which will take place July 4-18, 2017 in Israel. Maccabi USA will bring a team of 1,100+ athletes who will be part of the 10,000 Jewish athletes from 80 countries, participating in 43 different sports.

The doctors are Anthony Abene of Los Gatos, CA; Michael April of Rockville, MD; Marc Backal of Voorhees, NJ; Stuart Brodkin of Maitland, FL; Joel Carter of Minneapolis, MN; Howard Fidler of Minnetonka, MN; Brian Laiderman of Wildwood, MO; Elliot Leitman of Newark, DE; Ariel Nassim of Great Neck, NY; Adam Shafritz of South Burlington, VT; Scott Singer of Chagrin Falls, OH; and Merrick Wetzler of Cherry Hill, NJ.

The athletic trainers are Erik Brown of Wheeling, WV; David Caplin of Mount Laurel, NJ; Hillary Dreyfus of Kennesaw, GA: Hayley Edenzon of San Marcos, TX; Martin Freeman of Silver Spring, MD; Kendell Galor of Las Vegas, NV; Jamie Goldberg of Philadelphia, PA; Beth Hagler of Silver Spring, MD; Shawna Israel of Agoura Hills, CA; Brianne Lawton of Denton, TX; Daniel Lindsey of Hoover, AL; Joseph Lopez of Philadelphia, PA; Summer Runestad of Los Angeles, CA; Sarah Sall of Philadelphia, PA; Suzanne Seidel of Encino, CA; Kyle Southall of Birmingham, AL; Aaron Struminger of Elkton, MD; Julie Tucker of Columbia, MD; and Katelyn Zimmerman of Wayside, NJ.

Since 1932, over 62,000 athletes have participated in the Maccabiah Games, in a celebration of Jewish Strength and Solidarity. Team USA’s success is not only measured by the medals won, but by the impact that the Maccabiah experience had on their lives as well as the friendships they formed.
