MACCABI USA ANNOUNCES THE OPEN TENNIS TEAM FOR THE 20TH WORLD MACCABIAH GAMES

Philadelphia, PA, February 23, 2017 – The Maccabi USA Open Tennis Chairman Lisa Chajet, along with Head Coach Lonnie Mitchel is pleased to announce the Open Tennis Team for the 20th World Maccabiah Games, which will take place July 4-18, 2017 in Israel. Maccabi USA will bring a team of 1,100+ athletes who will be part of the 10,000 Jewish athletes from 80 countries, participating in 43 different sports.

Head Coach Mitchel is the Head Coach for Men’s and Women’s Tennis at The State University of New York-Oneonta. The athletes are Alex Brenner of San Francisco, CA, Claremont McKenna College; Seth Cohen of Birmingham, AL, University of Alabama; Natasha Dabrowski of West Bloomfield, MI, University of Michigan (’15); Daniel Destanik of New York, NY, Emory University (’11); Alana Green of Pittsford, NY, The State University of New York – Oneonta; Sivan Krems of Thousand Oaks, CA, Princeton University; Yael Levi of La Jolla, CA, University of Southern California; Adam Levie of Rancho Santa Fe, CA, University of California – Davis; Amira Massi of Los Angeles, CA, California State University – Northridge; Mia Rabinowitz of Tenafly, NJ, Laurel Springs School; Andrew Rifkin of Jacksonville, FL, St. Thomas University (’12); Alyssa Rudin of Irvine, CA, University of Chicago; and Allen Sokolov of Woodland Hills, CA, Vassar College.

Since 1932, over 62,000 athletes have participated in the Maccabiah Games, in a celebration of Jewish Strength and Solidarity. Team USA’s success is not only measured by the medals won, but by the impact that the Maccabiah experience had on their lives as well as the friendships they formed.
