Philadelphia, PA, March 10, 2021 – Mitchell Kurtz, Wynnewood, PA, and Steve Gittleman, Northfield, NJ U18 Men’s Basketball Co-Chairs for the 21st Maccabiah are pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Malc, Point Pleasant, NJ, as Head Coach for the U18 Men’s Basketball Team. Barry Kleiman, El Cerrito, CA, U16 Boys’ Basketball Chair for the 21st Maccabiah is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Weinstein, Riverwoods, IL, as Head Coach for the U16 Boys’ Basketball Team for the 21st Maccabiah taking place July 2022 in Israel.

Malc is currently an assistant coach at The Ranney School in Tinton Falls NJ. The Ranney School finished ranked top ten in the nation by both USA Today and MaxPreps in 2019 and also won New Jersey’s Tournament of Champions. Malc has coached over 40, Division 1 basketball players with multiple players going on to play in the NBA or professionally overseas.

Coach Weinstein has used basketball to keep himself on a positive track in life. Weinstein led the Highland Park High School basketball team to a CSL Conference Title in 1988. His love of basketball taught him many life lessons, including hard work through great preparation and holding himself accountable every day to help his team have success.

Maccabi USA is seeking qualified Jewish Basketball players with birth years 2004-2005 for U18 and 2006-2007 for U16 to represent the USA delegation at the 21st Maccabiah Games. Eligible applicants should visit maccabiusa.com to apply.
