MACCABI USA U18 BOYS’ & GIRLS’ GYMNASTICS ANNOUNCES ROSTER FOR 21ST MACCABIAH
Philadelphia, PA, February 14, 2021 – Ben Fox, Norman, OK, Overall Gymnastics Chair for the 21st Maccabiah, is pleased to announce the 5-athlete roster for the U18 Boys’ & Girls’ Gymnastics Teams for the 21st Maccabiah taking place July 2022 in Israel.
The teams will be led by Overall Gymnastics Head Coach, Daniel Ribeiro, Champaign, IL, U18 Boys’ Coach, Max Soifer, Tacoma, WA, and U18 Girls’ Coach, Alexandra Ribeiro, Chestnut Ridge, NY. The 5 athletes representing the USA next summer in Israel at the 21st Maccabiah for U18 Boys’ Gymnastics are Arun Chhetri, Culver City, CA, Gymnastics Olympica USA; Zachary Smollin, Porter Ranch, CA, Gymnastics Olympica USA; Brian Solomon, Lynnfield, MA, Interstate Gymnastics; Jonah Soltz, Tacoma, WA, Metropolitan Gymnastics; Joshua Szitanko, Lincroft, NJ, All American Gymnastics. The 5 athletes representing the USA next summer in Israel at the 21st Maccabiah for U18 Girls’ Gymnastics are Madeline Chao, Newport Beach, CA, South Coast Gymnastics; Sophie Knapp, Teaneck, NJ, Galaxy Gymnastics; Brittany Laiserin, Scottsdale, AZ, Xtreme Gymnastics; Joie Sandler, St. Louis, MO, St. Louis Gym Centre; JJ Schibel, Scottsdale, AZ, North Valley Gymnastics.

About the Maccabiah:
The first Maccabiah was held in in Ramat Gan in 1932 with 390 athletes from 18 countries taking part. Traditionally held every four years, interrupted only by the Second World War, by 2017 the Games had grown to include nearly 10,000 Jewish athletes from more than 75 countries competing in 40 sports, making it the third largest international multi-sport event in the world following only the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup. The Maccabi USA delegation to the 20th Maccabiah in the summer of 2017 numbered 1,131 members, the largest traveling delegation in the history of not just Jewish sporting events but all international multi-sport competitions.
