Philadelphia, PA, December 13, 2007– Travis Warech, of Pine Brook, NJ will compete as a member of the USA Juniors Boy’s Basketball Team in the 11th Pan American Maccabi Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Games will take place from December 26, 2007 through January 2, 2008.
Warech, a Junior at Montville Township High School, is a three-year varsity player and captain of this years HS squad. Additionally, he has played basketball for gold-medal winning Teams at the past two JCC Maccabi Games in 2006 – Vancouver and 2007 – Houston. He is an avid golfer, a member of the HS golf team and carries a single digit handicap.
When asked how he felt to be appointed to represent the USA at the Games, Warech responded, “I am honored to represent my country at the Pan Am Maccabi Games. I’m looking forward to the Games to be competitive as well as fun, but overall, a great experience. Having played in the US Maccabi games the past few years, I have had the opportunity to meet a wide variety of people from all over the US and the world. This opportunity takes it to the next level.”
“Maccabi USA/Sports for Israel will send a contingent of more than 500 to the 11th Pan American Maccabi Games, in the Open, Youth, Juniors and Masters categories, joining an estimated 3,000 athletes from more than 20 countries,” said Phyllis Magerman, General Chair of the U.S. 11th Pan American Maccabi Games Organizing Committee.
