Philadelphia, PA, September 7 – Zack Test, two-time Maccabiah, World Cup and Olympic athlete, has been appointed to represent the USA on the Rugby Squad at the 20th World Maccabiah Games in Israel, July 4 – 18, 2017. This will be the third time that Test will represent the USA at the Maccabiah Games; and Head Coach Shawn Lipman is thrilled to have him on the team again.

“I first met Zack when we both played on the USA Rugby Squad at the 18th Maccabiah Games in 2009 where we won the bronze medal. He was clearly a special player and athlete at that time and was just starting his career with the U.S. Men’s National Team,” Coach Lipman said. “Since that time Zack has emerged as one of the best U.S. Rugby players of all time, evidenced by him being the leading try/points scorer in U.S. history and having been selected to the All World Team multiple times, which places him among the best players in the World.”

Test has accomplished everything a player can in Rugby, including his recent participation as an Olympian at the Rio Games and his representation of the United States at the 2015 Rugby World Cup. Additionally, he has won two bronze medals (2009, 2013) in Rugby 15s and a Gold Medal (2013) in Rugby 7s at the World Maccabiah Games. Zack’s pride in being a Maccabi athlete is a shining light to all Jewish players and athletes.

“We are very excited to have Zack as a key member of the 2017 U.S. Rugby team that will be setting the bar of unparalleled excellence on and off the field,” Lipman said.

A select side will be competing and training at the Aspen Ruggerfest tournament alongside a Maccabi Rugby “Old Boy” contingent. This will be part of the preparation process for the Maccabiah Games as well as an opportunity for more players on the elite squad to be selected to the final Open Rugby Team.
