SARAH ODELL APPOINTED AS THE HEAD COACH FOR MACCABI USA’S JUNIORS BOYS’ SQUASH TEAM FOR THE 20TH WORLD MACCABIAH GAMES

Philadelphia, PA, June 17, 2016 – Tracey Specter, Overall Juniors Squash Chairman for the 20th World Maccabiah Games USA Organizing Committee, is pleased announce the appointment of Sarah Odell as Head Coach for Team USA’s Juniors Boys’ Squash team at the 2017 World Maccabiah Games. Odell was a member of Team USA’s silver medal winning Open Women’s Squash team at the 2009 World Maccabiah Games, and has served on the board of New York Squash, who awarded Odell the Wedgwood Trophy in 2015 for her contributions to women’s Squash.

“Competing in the 2009 World Maccabiah Games was life changing for me,” Odell said. “I am fulfilling a dream of returning as a member of Team USA to Israel, and am eager to engage the next generation of Jewish athletes for this transformative experience.” Team USA’s Juniors Boys’ Squash team members will be part of the overall 1,200+ member USA Team at the 2017 World Maccabiah Games.

Maccabi USA is seeking qualified Jewish athletes to represent Team USA in Squash at the 20th World Maccabiah Games in the following divisions: Juniors Boys & Girls (Born 1999-2002), Open Men & Women (ages 18-35) and Masters Men & Women (age 35+). Tryout information is coming soon.

The 20th World Maccabiah Games are the world’s third largest international sporting event and will consist of over 9,000 athletes from 75 countries participating in 42 different sports. To learn more about the sports and age divisions offered, please visit our website.

The World Maccabiah Games are more than an international sporting competition; they are a celebration of Jewish culture, unity and pride. ISRAEL CONNECT, Maccabi USA’s unique cultural and educational program, takes place for seven days prior to the start of the Games. All Juniors, Youth, Open and Paralympic athletes must participate in the program, where they have the opportunity to tour historical and religious sites, take part in cultural identity seminars and train with their teams, all while developing lifelong relationships.
